Question: If you previously received the Bambini Blessing, may you receive it again? The answer is a resounding YES! Please, come again this year! This blessing is not only for your baby Jesus figurine. The blessing is extended to you and all who will gather with you this Christmas.
The Bambini Blessing is a decades-old tradition that originated in Rome with Pope Saint John Paul II. On the Third Sunday of Advent, known as Gaudete Sunday, children (and adults) bring the Baby Jesus figure from their home nativity set to Saint Peter's Square where the Pope blesses both the people and the figurines.
Now an annual tradition at the Church of St. Pius X, blessings will again take place outside in front of the church by the outdoor parish nativity crèche in the circle drive. After your blessing, come inside for cookie decorating, refreshments, a story on Bambini Sunday, and make a birthday card for Jesus. Blessings may be "drive-up".
As you return home following the blessing of your Bambini, wrap this baby Jesus in a gift box or set him in a place that is unseen as we continue our Advent journey to Christmas. Let this then be the first gift you open on Christmas. Then place the blessed Christ-child figure in the manger and welcome Christmas and Christ into your home!
Come experience the amazing gift of God's mercy and love! On our Day of Mercy, priests will be available to hear confessions the entire time from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Has it been a while? Unsure how to go to confession? First, the priest will help you! Secondly, we also have Examination of Consciences on our parish website confession page. Remember: Confession is not a test. You can bring a "cheat sheet" with you!
Have no worries. God loves you and desires you to experience His mercy.
