Dear St. Pius X Parishioners,
You may have recently heard that Liberty Classical Academy, our school tenant, has purchased the former Withrow Elementary School in Hugo, MN. Bryan Zimmerman and I have been in close contact with the leadership at Liberty as they have been working through this new endeavor.
Liberty has reached maximum capacity for their students and currently is unable to accommodate the demand for their education offerings.
Our current lease agreement with Liberty extends through June 30, 2024. With Liberty’s leadership, we have discussed extending the current lease past that date to support the school’s needs for strategic growth, for flexibility with their educational curriculum, for administration planning, and, frankly, for our parish’s income needs.
Bryan Zimmerman, along with the Parish, Finance, and Buildings and Grounds Committees, has been and will continue to be investigating future opportunities for the parish school space. We have already been in planning meetings with Cushman and Wakefield, a property management company, the Archdiocese resource group, and individual professionals that have been involved in these types of opportunities.
We are excited about Liberty Classical Academy’s future journey and what God has in store for our beautiful parish facility! In the meantime, it’s business as usual for both the parish and the school. As brothers and sisters in Christ, we have both been so blessed together!
Peace,
Father T.J. McKenzie
Pastor of the Church of St. Pius X
